Graduate Intern, 12 months fixed term (with possibility of further 12 month extension)

Hours: Full Time & Part Positions Available

Salary: £15,000 pro rata per annum
Hours: Forty (40) hours per week flexi-time (full time)
Holidays: 20 days paid holiday + bank holidays + two days for Eid per annum

1st Ethical Charitable Trust are recruiting a number of interns to support our vision of a British Muslim identity which is authentically Islamic and also comfortable with being culturally British.

It seeks to achieve this objective through two distinct channels:

1. Developing Shariah compliant solutions to common legal and financial challenges facing British Muslims ( for example, preparing an Islamic Will valid under English Law)

2. Empowering Muslims to better engage with mainstream society through working on shared projects (for example, feeding the homeless)

Successful candidates must view our overarching aim of articulating a progressive & confident British Muslim identity as vital to their personal life goals.

Key elements of the role will encompass:

- Developing new and existing strategic relationships/partnering with leading Muslim organisations/mosques/schools and individuals within the UK
- Supporting UK based Ulema and Muslims professionals
- Working with mainstream organisations so they better understand the Islamic faith
- Setting up local groups of volunteers to carry out key seasonal campaigns

Successful candidates must possess:

Three Grade B’s or above at A level + a 2:1 degree (or equivalent)
Excellent interpersonal and written skills
Ability to work hard, unsupervised, and learn fast with minimal support
Good organisational and time-management skills
A willingness to travel throughout the UK occasionally.
